Time 2 Fiesta
Time 2 Fiesta 2025 was a huge success, and the Parents Association would like to extend a very big thank you to all the girls, parents and friends who came to enjoy the day with us. It was a day to celebrate the 146th birthday of St Mary’s DSG. The number and variety of inflatables for our youngsters kept them busy all day. This year we had 2 rockets and even some senior school girls were able to enjoy this ride. A big hit this year was the foam jet which we placed on the netball courts and the children absolutely loved it. Our grade 10 DEBS secured a Dunk Tank and some brave teachers were dunked. There is a call for us to bring it back next year. All brave teachers can sign up from now.
We introduced Talent@DSG this year, run by the Department of Performing Arts. The girls were absolutely amazing. We are hoping that this segment of our Fiesta will keep on growing. Many of our parents also supported the PA by buying our merchandise and the vendors who were at our Fiesta this year did very well, including our Consumer Studies department. The teachers and girls made their own spices, chutneys and much more. The biggest hit was our young entrepreneurs making and selling candy floss.
The festivities continued with DJ Neil Hunter, who our DSG girls adore. Tamara Dey was not very well known amongst some of our ‘younger’ community but once she started to perform, she drew the crowds to the stage and her songs were recognised by many. Finally, DJ Kent performed, and it was worth the wait for all who came to hear his music.
Thank you to all the teachers who were on duty to assist and ensure that everything ran smoothly. We must take time to thank Mrs Howard and Mrs Mngambi for being such amazing supporters in the planning of the Fiesta. Thank you to the Parents Association who worked many hours to make this day a reality, a community builder and a success. May I acknowledge, Samantha Reuning, Thabo Moyo, Andy Papadoulo, Mervyn Shinners, Victor Kunda, Zwi Lukhozi, Refiloe Loate, Dorcas Kibachio, Mpho Butshwane, Angelica Katsouris, Bash Mazo and Ramari Booi. On the day we were also assisted greatly by Clive Roberts. I thank you all for your great service to the school.
