Megan Shines at the IDO World Championships

- Mrs Janine Purchase

St Mary’s DSG is immensely proud to celebrate the exceptional achievements of Megan Weitzman, who represented South Africa with extraordinary talent, poise, and humility at the International Dance Organisation (IDO) World Championships in Italy and Belgium in December 2025.

In a breathtaking display of artistry and discipline, Megan was crowned:

  • World Champion – Ballet Classical (Adult Division)
  • Vice World Champion – Ballet Repertoire (Adult Division)

Hearing the South African National Anthem play in her honour on the world stage was a moment beyond comprehension — deeply emotional, profoundly moving, and a testament to her years of dedication and hard work. It was not only a victory for her, but a moment of pride for her family, her school, and her country.

Beyond her competitive success, Megan was appointed Junior Team Leader, a role in which she excelled. She guided and prepared the junior dancers with care, professionalism, and encouragement, ensuring they stepped onto the stage with confidence. Her leadership, maturity, and gentle strength made her an invaluable support to the South African team.

Throughout the championship, Megan embodied the true spirit of St Mary’s: grace in performance, humility in achievement, and a quiet determination that inspires those around her. She accepted every accolade with gratitude, represented her country with dignity, and remained grounded despite standing at the pinnacle of her discipline.

We are incredibly proud of Megan for her achievements and for the beautiful way she carries herself in every space she enters. She is a shining example of talent paired with humility, and a true ambassador of our school.

Congratulations, Megan. You have made us all deeply proud.
