Leadership in Action: A Visit from Mrs Maroleni

- Mrs Candace Greyling

We started off the Term with our Grade 4 to 7 girls having the privilege of hearing from Mrs Tshepiso Maroleni, one of our proud DSG parents, as part of their Character, Ethics and Citizenship (CEC) programme. In her sincere talk, Mrs Maroleni shared her own leadership journey, encouraging the girls to reflect on the qualities they carry with them.

“Leadership is not about position, it is about purpose,” she told them. “It is about using what you have, where you are, to make a difference.”

The girls were encouraged to think about their own 'leadership backpack' (a metaphor used, which ties in with our Leader in Me programme) to consider what values, strengths and tools they need to grow as confident, compassionate leaders.

Mrs Maroleni reminded us all that leadership is a journey, not a destination, and that every girl has the potential to lead from where she stands. We are grateful for the time she spent with us and the inspiration she offered.
