Grade 5 Camp 2026 – An Adventure to Remember!

Our Grade 5 girls set off bright and early on Monday morning, full of excitement and anticipation. The journey began with plenty of singing, laughter and energetic chants on the bus, setting the tone for an unforgettable camp experience!

Our first stop was Adventures with Elephants in Bela Bela, where the girls had the opportunity to interact with and touch the elephants while learning more about these magnificent animals and the importance of their conservation and the important role these magnificent animals play in our ecosystems. They also discovered fascinating facts about the African hornbill which is a distinctive bird known for its large, curved bill and its important role in spreading seeds throughout the bushveld. The girls were fascinated to learn that hornbills often work together as a pair when raising their chicks, with the female remaining safely inside a tree cavity while the male brings her food.

We then made our way to Klein Kariba Resort, where the girls were divided into teams and challenged with a variety of activities designed to develop patience, resilience, communication and teamwork. There was certainly no shortage of laughter and enthusiasm as they encouraged and supported one another through each challenge.

The camp highlights included an introduction to horses, where the girls had the special experience of sitting on a horse as it walked with a guide, as well as an exciting obstacle course, archery, Minute to Win It challenges, an inflatable slip and slide and the very popular “Trashion Show”! When they weren't busy with activities, the girls made the most of the slip and slide and enjoyed relaxing in the warm water pool.

From learning about wildlife and conservation to conquering challenges, cheering on teammates and creating wonderful memories together, the Grade 5 girls embraced every moment of camp. It was a fantastic few days filled with adventure, friendship, laughter and valuable life lessons – truly a camp to remember!
