Grade 3 camp
Excitement, a few butterflies, and plenty of big smiles set the scene as our Grade 3 students set off on a very special adventure: their first overnight school camp! For some, the thought of sleeping away from home was thrilling, while for others, it brought a few nerves. As the adventure unfolded, the girls discovered that with a little courage and the support of their friends, they could face their fears and achieve far more than they thought possible.
The camp was packed with challenges that tested the girls’ bravery, teamwork and determination. From scaling the rock-climbing wall to navigating a dark maze on their tummies, wriggling through the twists and turns like snakes, there was never a dull moment! River rafting and an obstacle course, where the girls channelled their inner Tarzans to tackle a series of rope obstacles with a partner, provided wonderful opportunities to encourage one another, persevere and celebrate their achievements.
One of the highlights of the evening was preparing their own supper. The girls worked together to create their meal, and the verdict was unanimous: it was the most delicious meal they had ever made! Watch out, Jamie Oliver – there may be some future chefs in our midst! A cup of hot chocolate and a gooey s’more rounded off the evening perfectly, much to the girls’ delight.
With supper enjoyed and tummies full, the girls headed into the darkness for a game of Stalk the Lantern. Squeals and laughter filled the air as they crept through the shadows, trying to avoid detection.
Back at their cabins, the giggles and late-night chats continued as the girls shared stories and enjoyed being together. Eventually, even the most enthusiastic chatterboxes succumbed to tired eyes as the day's excitement caught up with them.
The following morning brought another adventure. Working in teams, the girls set about building their own go-karts before lining up for some friendly competition. There was plenty of strategic thinking as each team put its plans into action, with the girls running with all their might to help their teammates claim victory. Their determination and team spirit were wonderful to see!
