February Junior School’s Head’s Message

- Mrs Thobeka Mngambi

February is a month to celebrate love in all its forms. At our school, we embrace God’s unconditional love for each of our girls, the bonds of friendship that enrich daily life, the respect and kindness we show one another, and the care and gratitude we express to our families and community. These values are at the heart of our school and guide how we live and learn together.

1 John 3:1 – See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God (Daughters of the King).

This month also marked the beginning of Lent and Ramadan. As an inclusive school grounded in our Anglican ethos, we honour these important religious milestones. Girls who are fasting are supported with a quiet, designated space during breaktime, ensuring they are comfortable and respected.

February is also a time to celebrate cultural diversity. We welcomed the Chinese New Year and observed Mother Tongue Day, embracing the many traditions and languages that make our school community so vibrant and rich.

Academically, our Grade 2 and 3 teachers facilitated THRASS and Maths Abacus parent workshops, helping families understand how to support their daughters at home. International Read Aloud Day brought girls together across grades to share the joy of reading, and the International Day of Women in Science saw Grade 12 National Science Expo winner Olivia Braker inspire our girls to embrace STEAM subjects with confidence.

In sport, Season 1 has concluded with marked improvement in both our swimmers and tennis players. Their dedication, focus, and perseverance have truly paid off. Netball is now underway, adding new energy and excitement to the courts. The Arts have also flourished this month, with our Grade 6 and 7 outing to Montecasino to see CATS and our Grade 7s showcasing their culinary creativity at the Skottel Rules evening.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Junior School staff for their ongoing dedication, ensuring that every girl continues to believe in herself and fly.

As Franklin P. Jones reminds us, “Love doesn’t make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.”

God Bless
