Building Skills from the Ground Up - From Theory to Practice

- Ms Lizelle Bothma

This term, our IT students had an incredible opportunity to deepen their understanding of computer hardware thanks to the expertise of our dedicated IT technicians. Through an interactive workshop, students explored the process of building a computer from the ground up — learning how each component fits onto the motherboard and functions within the system.

The hands-on experience was invaluable, as students carefully assembled parts such as the CPU, RAM, power supply, and storage devices under the patient guidance of our technicians. This practical approach helped bring their theoretical studies to life, enhancing their comprehension of how computer systems work.

This initiative sparked enthusiasm and provided a meaningful way to connect classroom learning with real-world hardware. Seeing the components come together was a proud moment for all involved and a true testament to the power of learning by doing.

We are grateful to our IT team for their support in making this workshop a success and look forward to more opportunities that help our students engage deeply with technology.
