Ocean’s Day
World Ocean’s Day is celebrated on the 8th of June every year. This year St Mary’s Junior School joined in on the celebration a day later, the 9th of June. Our students were taught that oceans are very important in creating a sustainable earth and combat global warming.
The Eco ambassadors shared catchy songs with the Intersen and Foundation phases to teach them to look after marine animals and not to litter as litter washes into the rivers and ends up in the ocean. The eco ambassadors then led the school in a massive litter clean-up of the Junior School and reinforced the message shared at the start of the day.
Various classes enjoyed decorating their classroom doors to celebrate the day and a plethora of information was shared around the school in this way.
Ideas in Motion and an awareness of the impact we have on our world.
