The word "débutante" refers to a young lady making her debut in society. From this tradition, in 1990 St Mary’s DSG started the Debutante programme by which a young lady on the brink of adulthood, could utilise opportunities to raise money for charity through a variety of innovative initiatives. We gather to celebrate our Grade 10 Debutantes' of 2026 and all their achievements. In the wise words of Winnie the Pooh and Piglet. “How do you spell LOVE” said Piglet, Winne the Pooh responds, “You don’t spell it, you feel it”. Grade 10’s, We are exceptional proud of what we have achieved this year. Thank you for your hard work. We believe that your next two years at St Mary’s DSG will be remarkable years for you all. Grab every opportunity with gusto and grace!

Spirit of Debs Award
This award is voted by the Grade 10 Mentors and Grade Head.
This Debutante has been nothing short of extraordinary this year. She gave her time, energy and heart so generously, always willing to step forward and help, no matter what the task. She supported every Debutante class, celebrated the successes of others, motivated her peers and brought enthusiasm and positivity wherever she went. From winning both the Valentine’s Raffle and Mr Schoeman’s Raffle, to being our wonderful MC at the High Tea—and arriving in true Bridgerton style—she embraced every moment with her own unique personality. It is these little acts of kindness, generosity and initiative that truly set her apart. She was always there, always willing, and always giving her best. She has embodied what it means to be a Debutante, and above all, she has been kind, enthusiastic, supportive, unforgettable and always willing to go the extra mile. The spirit of Debs Award is awarded to Molatelo Pilusa.
