Alumnae Reunion 2026
On Saturday the 19th of September on a beautiful, sunny, spring day St Mary’s DSG Alumnae gathered to celebrate friendships and renew connections with classmates and with the school. For some it was a comfortable re-aquaintance with familiar surroundings and for others it was a first visit in many years. Many expressed amazement at how much the school has changed in the past 25 years.
The beautiful Chapel Service started the day off on a high note, followed by a delicious tea, PR Tours providing memories and showcasing changes, and a stunning performance by the St Mary's Singers which was extra special this year as it took place in the Chapel. A delicious lunch followed in the Refectory that looked absolutely stunning decked out in Delphiniums, Ranunculus and Cymbidiums with touches of terracotta. The School heritage quiz provided a lot of fun with The Pro’s (1966 et al) winning lovely goodie bags. The afternoon was rounded off with socializing at the Alumnae VIP area and the PA Fiesta sunset concert.
Kgomotso Moalusi (1989) welcomed all to the proceedings in the Refectory especially the School management, the special years (the Class of 2006 had an amazing 30 alumnae attending) our Class of 2026 Alumnae Ambassadors,some matric representatives and staff and former staff – Mrs Jeanette van der Breggen and Mrs Pippa Marais.
Special thanks go to our Executive Head of School, Odelle Howard, for her “My School, My Grade, My People” address, Tiffany van Tonder (chair of the Alumnae Association), Victoria Chamberlain, Angelica Katsouris, the St Mary’s Singers and Lhente Pitout their conductor, the PR girls, the Gr 11 girls who assisted on the Saturday and the catering, estates and laundry staff. To all the staff who assisted in some way in the planning and on the day of the Reunion many thanks – such an event does not happen without much effort behind the scenes.
One of the alumnae wrote “There was something incredibly special about seeing familiar faces, hearing old stories, and realizing that, despite life taking us in so many different directions, a part of us will always belong to our school years.”
