World Read Aloud Day
On Wednesday, 5 February, the girls at St Mary’s DSG immersed themselves in the joy of reading aloud during their English lessons, transforming their classrooms into lively literary spaces filled with storytelling, expression, and shared enthusiasm.
Reading aloud is more than just an academic exercise—it is an opportunity to bring stories to life, foster a love for literature, and build confidence in public speaking. The girls took turns reading passages from their favourite books, exploring different characters, tones, and emotions as they read aloud to their peers. The experience not only improved their fluency and comprehension but also deepened their appreciation for storytelling.
What made the occasion even more special was the warm and inviting atmosphere. With cups of tea in hand and an assortment of delicious biscuits to enjoy, the students relaxed into the experience, making it a truly delightful and memorable literary celebration. The combination of reading, laughter, and shared moments of reflection created a sense of camaraderie that reinforced the power of storytelling in bringing people together.
At St Mary’s DSG, we believe that nurturing a love for reading is essential to fostering creativity and intellectual curiosity. Events like these remind us of the timeless magic of books and the importance of sharing stories. As the girls left their English lessons that day, they carried with them not just the stories they had read but also a renewed appreciation for the beauty of language and literature.
