Staff Transitions: Welcoming New Staff and Bidding Farewells

With the end of the term, we reflect on a season of meaningful transition at St Mary's DSG β€” marked by new appointments, farewells, internal movements, and the joyful return of familiar faces. These changes reflect our ongoing commitment to growth, excellence, and nurturing a dynamic school environment for all.

Welcome to Our New Head of the Junior School

We are thrilled to welcome Mrs Thobeka Mngambi, who will join us in May 2025 as the new Head of Junior School. Mrs Mngambi brings a strong track record of leadership, a deep passion for education, and a commitment to empowering young girls. We look forward to the positive impact she will make as she leads our Junior School into a new chapter.

We extend our profound appreciation to Mrs Louise Whitelaw and Mrs Hildegard Joseph, who have excelled in their respective acting roles during this transition period. Staff, students, and parents have deeply appreciated their leadership and dedication.

Welcoming Our New Staff Members

We are delighted to introduce the following new staff members who will be joining the St Mary's DSG community in May:

  • Nombuso Christina Khazi – Junior School isiZulu Teacher
  • Carli Spies – Senior School Music Teacher & Head of Department
  • Kgaogelo Mangena – Senior School Physical Science Teacher

Joyful Return from Maternity Leave

It is with great joy that we welcome back Ms Boipelo Sikhosana, Director of Outreach and Junior School Art teacher. Ms Sikhosana returns from maternity leave.

Heartfelt Farewells

As we welcome new colleagues, we also bid farewell to staff members who will conclude their journey with us at the end of April. Among them is Mrs Retha Roelefse, whose presence and contributions have left a meaningful mark on our school. We thank her sincerely for her service and wish her every success in her future endeavours.

Additionally, two staff members β€” one from the Junior School and one from the Security team β€” have left the school following formal disciplinary proceedings chaired by an independent professional. These matters were handled with care and confidentiality in line with our policies.

Internal Office Moves to Enhance Collaboration

We are also pleased to share a few exciting internal relocations:

  • The Advancement Office will move to Kopano Centre, creating a vibrant hub for engagement for girls, parents, and alumnae engagement.
  • The Compliance and Administration Manager will relocate to the Main Administration Building, which will improve accessibility and strengthen support across departments.

We remain grateful to all who contribute to St Mary's DSG's life and look forward to starting the new term in 2025.
