St Mary’s Joyful Voices: Choir Performance at WHPS
On Tuesday, 17 March, our Junior Choir, Joyful Voices, proudly took to the stage at the annual WHPS Junior Choir Festival marking their very first performance of 2026.
The choir opened their programme with The Seedby Glynn Lehmann, a thoughtful and engaging piece that teaches young singers that “what you plant is what you grow,” encouraging kindness, responsibility, and positive choices through a simple and meaningful metaphor, “what you reap is what you sow”. They then delighted the audience with the playful and animated Kookaburraby M. Sinclair, bringing energy and charm to the stage with cheeky movements that captured the spirit of the laughing “king of the bush.” The performance concluded with the vibrant and rhythmic Bhombela, a traditional isiZulu train song sung in acapella.
The girls thoroughly enjoyed sharing the stage with fellow choirs from Cornwall Hill College Preparatory School, Pepps Motheong School, Tyger Valley College Preparatory School, and Woodhill College Primary, making it a joyful celebration of music, culture, and collaboration.
