Problem Based Learning in the Foundation Phase
Our recent PBL Day was a resounding success, immersing students in the 2025 theme: Pause And Go Explore (P.A.G.E.), encouraging our girls to delve into creative and critical thinking activities.
The Grade 0 students continued their ‘On the Farm’ adventure, each girl researching a farm animal and presenting the interesting information they had found. A wonderful opportunity to practice their presenting skills. Girls then created 3D animals from clay and created a fenced in field to keep their animals in. Keep moo-ving, Grade 0s!
The Grade 1 students embarked on an exciting literary journey. They set ambitious goals by tallying the books they plan to read in Term 2, instilling a sense of purpose and enthusiasm for reading. A captivating scavenger hunt led them through an interactive review of Jack and the Beanstalk. Additionally, the girls crafted their own bookmarks. Happy future reading, Grade 1s.
The Grade 2 students paused and explored various engineering, coding and scientific skills. Girls enjoyed applying measuring skills, knowledge of reactions and counting skills to make their own coke flavoured boba tea. Taste the Feeling, Grade 2s!
In alignment with our 'Eco Warrier' theme, the Grade 3 students undertook in-depth research on endangered animals. They collected recyclable materials and designed habitats that support the survival of these creatures. This project seamlessly integrated STEM with DT. It was wonderful to see them working collaboratively and applying their researched knowledge to the needs of the specific animal. Well done, Grade 3s.
Our girls enjoyed engaging through real-world challenges and collaborative problem-solving developing essential life skills such as teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking.
