November: A Month of Celebration and New Beginnings
As we enter November, there is always a special feeling in the Junior School. It is a time to begin rounding off the year, reflecting on all that we have achieved, celebrating our girls and starting to communicate and finalise our plans for 2027. It is also a month filled with many special moments as we prepare to say goodbye to some of our girls and welcome new families into our community.
We recently had the joy of welcoming our 2027 Grade 0 families at our Grade 0 Blessing. We look forward to getting to know these families as they begin their journey with us. We will also welcome our 2027 Grade 1–7 families, giving them an opportunity to hear from our Grade 7 girls about what their daughters can look forward to, enjoy performances from our talented musicians and, importantly, begin forming connections with other families in their daughters' new grades.
Our Grade 6 and 7 girls will be writing their examinations, with this being a first experience of formal examinations for our Grade 6s. We wish them well and encourage them to approach this important milestone with confidence and preparation. We will also host our Grade 3 Parent Transition Meeting, helping parents understand the changes and new experiences their daughters will encounter as they move into the Intermediate Phase.
November is also when we begin saying some difficult goodbyes. Our Grade 7 girls will soon leave us, although we are fortunate that many will remain part of our wider school community in the Senior School. Others will begin their journeys at new schools, and we will also say goodbye to girls in our other grades who are moving on. While these farewells are always bittersweet, we are grateful for the privilege of having been part of their journeys. We are especially thankful to God that we will not be saying goodbye to any of our teachers this year.
Our Grade 7 Leavers' Dinner and Production are always highlights of the year, and we cannot wait to formally unveil the Grade 7 Legacy Gift. I would once again like to sincerely thank our Grade 7 families, the wider Junior School community and our alumni for supporting this dream in so many ways. Our beautiful new entrance is now a reality and creates such an elegant and welcoming sense of arrival to our school. This is a wonderful legacy for our girls.
And, of course, we cannot forget our Grade 0 Nativity Play, which never fails to melt our hearts! We will then bring the year to a close with our Foundation Phase and Intersen Phase Prize Giving ceremonies, where we celebrate our girls' achievements, as well as the many successes of our school throughout 2026.
November may be a busy month, but it is also a month of gratitude, celebration, reflection and new beginnings. As we approach the end of the year, I am deeply grateful for our girls, our staff, our families and our wider community. Thank you for being part of what makes our Junior School such a special place.
