Grade 00 Classroom Blessing
On Monday, 20 January 2025, the school community gathered to celebrate a momentous occasion: the official blessing of the new Grade 00 classrooms. This milestone marks the introduction of Grade 00 into our schooling system, an initiative aimed at providing the youngest learners with an environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and care.
The ceremony was attended by esteemed guests, parents, staff, and, most importantly, the inaugural cohort of Grade 00 learners. In her opening address, the Executive Head of School, reflected on the journey that led to this significant achievement. “The decision to establish Grade 00 was inspired by a vision I proposed in 2023,” she shared. “It has been a collaborative effort fuelled by dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment from everyone involved.”
Acknowledging the Key Contributors
The success of this project was the result of collective efforts by numerous individuals and teams. Special acknowledgment was given to the Core 7 group, let by Mrs Howard, who met every fortnight to ensure the project’s progress.
- Mrs. Jennings, Former Junior School Principal, and Foundation Phase Teachers: Their expertise shaped a warm and engaging curriculum and classroom environment.
- Mrs. Nkosi, Head of Advancement: Her strategic efforts to build excitement within the community ensured that the classrooms would be filled with eager young learners.
- Mrs. van der Westhuizen, Bursar, and the Finance Department: Their meticulous planning and financial support ensured the project stayed on track.
- Ms. Boucher, Compliance Manager: Her dedication to navigating legal and regulatory requirements made the registration of Grade 00 a reality.
- Mr. Sibanda and the Estates Team: From last-minute fixes to ensuring every detail was perfect, their responsiveness and hard work were indispensable.
- Mr. Myeko, Project Manager: His coordination of teams, timelines, and logistics ensured the project was delivered on time.
Additional support and guidelines were provided by the service providers and school representatives who played a significant role in the completion of the project.
- Architectural Team, Mrs. Werkman-Kruger, and Mr. Willemse: Offering their services pro bono, they designed nurturing spaces and guided the project through council processes.
- Mr. Lyer and the Construction Team: The partnership with their company brought the construction to life efficiently, with Mr. Charles’ open communication playing a key role.
- Mr. Lebese, Diocesan Representative: His administrative support and guidance through the necessary Diocesan committees were invaluable.
- Board Members: For their foresight and belief in the value of this endeavour.
- Chair of the Lands and Buildings Committee: Mr Makofane and its members for championing this initiative and guiding us through the renovation project.

The introduction of Grade 00 exemplifies what can be achieved through teamwork and shared purpose. “This moment is a testament to the dedication and collaboration of everyone involved,” the principal noted.
