End of Year Message

- Mrs Thobeka Mngambi

As we reach the end of this school year, I reflect on the journey that began for me in May. Walking into the Junior School for the first time, I felt both excitement and a deep sense of responsibility. Every smile, conversation and shared moment has helped me understand the heart of our school. Most meaningful of all have been the relationships I’ve built with our students, parents and staff.

I am profoundly grateful to our teachers, who go the extra mile every day to ensure every child feels seen, valued and cared for. I feel truly blessed to work alongside such dedicated professionals.

One of the most exciting developments is the upgrade of our Reception area during the December holidays. When we return in January, we will be greeted by a beautiful, warm, and nurturing space which is crucial for our school as it is the first point of welcome for every parent, visitor and child.

A special thank-you also goes to our incredible Junior School parent volunteers. Whether assisting at events, supporting teachers, or cheering from the sidelines, your contributions have been invaluable. Thanks to the broader parent community, we received R50 000 from the Big Walk and R17 000 from the Grade 7 Legacy Gift, which will contribute towards beautifying the Reception area, including showcasing Grade 7 Art in this upgraded space.

Looking ahead to 2026, my focus will remain on nurturing stronger relationships across our Junior School, creating more opportunities for community building, and ensuring our girls receive a holistic, cutting-edge education. We also look forward to participating more actively in like-for-like girls’ school sporting events, enriching students’ confidence and school spirit.

I am also delighted to share that every class from Grade 00 to Grade 3 will have a full-time class assistant next year, strengthening the individual attention our youngest learners receive as we continue building a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy.

In keeping with our commitment to identity, confidence, and self-love, we have updated the hair guidelines for 2026. Girls will be required to embrace their natural hair colour, and all hairstyles including braids, faux locks must match their natural hair.

As we close the year, I wish all our Junior School families a joyful and peaceful festive season.

I look forward to welcoming our girls back on Wednesday, 14 January, smartly dressed in their summer uniforms and ready for a wonderful year ahead.
