Consumer Studies Update

Our Grade 8s have taken on a fun and functional design task — creating and decorating their own pinboards using MDF board. By applying the design process, from research and ideation to planning and iteration, students developed solutions to help with personal planning and organisation. The final products reflect both practical problem-solving and creative flair, adding a personalised touch to their learning spaces.

Using air-dry clay, our Grade 9 girls are exploring the design process to craft beautiful, functional jewellery bowls. This project allows them to bridge theory with hands-on creativity, applying design principles, refining technique, and expressing individuality.
It’s a wonderful way to connect the dots between conceptual learning and tangible outcomes — and the results are as impressive as they are personal!

Our Grade 10, 11 and 12 Consumer Studies students are hard at work on their Practical Assessment Task, which challenges them to think like real entrepreneurs. Each student must identify a gap in the market, develop an innovative food product to meet the needs of a specific target audience, and will then produce, package, and market their creation.
This hands-on assignment equips students with vital skills in business thinking, product development, and marketing — all while showcasing their creativity and culinary talent.
