Author Meet and Greet

Our Grade 11 and 12 French students recently enjoyed an unforgettable cultural and academic experience at a special Author Meet & Greet. This enriching event was initiated by the Embassy of France in South Africa, the Institut Français d’Afrique du Sud, and the Alliance Française de Pretoria — organisations dedicated to promoting French language and culture.

The girls had the distinct privilege of meeting and engaging with Kidi Bebey, the acclaimed author of Enfin chez moi, the novel studied as part of our Grade 12 French curriculum. Having the opportunity to interact directly with the writer behind the text deepened the students’ understanding of the novel’s themes, characters, and cultural context.

Listening to Kidi Bebey share her insights, inspirations, and personal experiences brought the pages of the novel vividly to life. The session was both inspiring and thought-provoking, allowing our students to see literature not simply as words on a page, but as a living dialogue between author and reader.

We are incredibly grateful for this meaningful opportunity. Experiences such as these enrich our academic programme and foster a deeper appreciation for language, culture, and storytelling.
