Alumnae Association

The St Mary's DSG, Pretoria Alumnae Association started under a tree on the school grounds in Skinner Street (currently Nana Sita Street) in 1911, with the first reunion (a whole weekend!) at the current school held in 1931.

The association has certainly come a long way since then!

Historically, the role of the Alumnae Association has been to raise funds for the school to assist projects such as the relocation of Mother Maribel’s Cross to the garden of remembrance at the end of Centenary Lane; the Centenary Gate; the stained-glass window over the entrance to the chapel; the sensory garden; and the parents’ waiting area at the Junior School.

Currently, there is a strong focus on forging closer ties with the girls at school, building connections with our newest alumnae, and reconnecting with members of our alumnae community worldwide.

The Alumnae Association also facilitates annual reunion celebrations, where alumnae (young and older) get together to reconnect and reminisce about their school years. All members who serve on the association’s committee do so in their own time and at no cost – they have a special place in their hearts for the school that helped raise them into the adults they are today.

As it moves forward, the association is constantly looking at revising and refreshing its vision and invites anyone keen to join this journey to contact us at advancement@stmarys.pta.school.za.
